I love Big shopping mall promotions…don’t you?
You can go, try new products, get advice, learn new techniques and treat yourself with something nice at the end. The best part is that if you don’t like anything you don’t have to buy anything and if you strategically place your appointment on a Friday evening you are ready for your night out.
Last week I had this opportunity, after receiving a lovely invitation from YSL, in order to discover their new fall line and test and play with their newly launched VERNIS A LEVRES VINYL CREAM lipstick.
I managed to get an appointment with the very talented YSL national make-up artist Abdel Souitina who created this gorgeous look for me.
The products he used were amazing but I was mostly intrigued by the Vinyl Cream Lip Stains. YSL released 12 shades addressing different skin tones. The company claims that this is a “high coverage liquid lip with ultimate shine, comfort, and all day wear. Vinyl Cream dresses lips in full coverage color and high-impact vinyl shine. The creamy formula provides 10 hour wear and all day comfort so lips look and feel beautiful”.
Well, this is a pretty bold statement since after testing shade 404 Nude Pulse for a week now, I can report back to you the following. This liquid lip is definitely not a 10 Hour wear lipstick. Although very glossy at first the shine disappears after 1 hour max. However, once the gloss is gone you do have a stain remaining on your lips for several hours.
Tip!!! Don’t apply it just once. In order to get the most out of the pigment you need to apply it at least twice. Let the first coat dry and then apply the second coat.
The lipstick does transfer but it is comfortable to wear unfortunately it is not hydrating but tacky instead. The product does have a slight sent to it. I would describe it as a mixture of floral perfume (does contain fragrance after all) and a cocktail. It is very similar to the LANCOME juicy shakers in terms of scent.
(Here are a few swatches with natural light but I couldn’t swatch all of the lipsticks since 3 were sold out.)
The diamond shaped applicator is soft and picks up a good amount of product. The application is very easy, especially for the inner corners of the lips. The packaging is a black sturdy high polished plastic with an engraved golden YSL logo and it feels heavy in the hand. There is a transparent opening where one can see the colour of the lipstick. The packaging contains Net. Wt. 0.18 fl.oz. 5,5 ml. of product and retails for 36$.
Tip!!! If you buy the lipsticks online directly from YSL you can have the packaging engraved.
Although an interesting add-on, overall this is not a lipstick I would personally recommend since there are much better ones on the market. Here is also one more short review from Brianna Stanko where this product is mentioned.
As always, I hope that you found this review helpful. I am looking forward to your comments and thoughts.
Till next time…
xoxo from Zürich,
