Hello Beautyowls! I hope you are having a smashing day wherever you are. Today we are talking Glossier so whatever you do take a seat, grab a tea or coffee and get comfortable because this post is going to be a long one. After all, you deserve a break!

I am sure most of you have heard about the Glossier brand by now, but in case there are some of you that haven’t, here is a quick overview.

About The Brand

Glossier was created 2010 by Emily Weiss a New York-based blogger who started her success journey with her well-known Blog “Into the Gloss”. The blog was so successful that it quickly counted thousands of followers upon which the Glossier skincare and beauty line was created. The line focuses on addressing the daily skincare and beauty needs of everyday women in a simple, fast and efficient way.

The success around the brand was almost instant, and here we are eight years later looking at a beauty brand that still surprises and brings products to the market that the vastest majority of its customers love.

Shipping Issues

Despite the company’s success, it’s expansion strategy is rather slow since the products are only available in the US, Canada, and the UK. Although it is just a matter of time till Glossier will start shipping worldwide one has to wonder how the heck other smaller beauty companies managed to have their distribution channels checked much quicker than Glossier. My frustration comes here from the fact that I am slowly running out and I don’t see myself or my husband traveling to any of these countries anytime soon!

In any case a few months back I managed to place an order with Hubs who was gracious enough to endure the predominantly female waiting line at the Glossier Showroom in NY.

The harvest was fruitful (observe exhibit A) since I did get all of the products that were on my wishlist. So for the past months, I have been testing, playing, loving and not so loving the majority of the Glossier skincare and beauty line.

But I don’t want to keep you in any more suspense! Let’s jump right into it and dive into the first part of this blog post which is dedicated to skincare!

Product-Nr.1 The Milky Jelly Cleanser

This cleanser is a superb product that is marketed for all skin types. However, in my opinion, it will be a better fit for those with mixed to oilier complexions. The lightweight jelly formula can be used on dry or wet skin and is PH balanced. It combats impurities and leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished. My personal favorite about this product is that it can also be used on the eyes which kills one bird with two stones and is kind to your pocket (18$ for 6 fl oz / 177 ml)! A must-have for sure!

Product-Nr.2 Mega Greens Galaxy Pack & Moisturizing Moon Mask

Or as I like to call them, the mega duo! I must admit that at the beginning I wasn’t a big fan of these face masks! There are two reasons for that 1) I am not a big mask person myself and 2) My skin tends to break out when I use clarifying masks… so I was a little worried! Little did I know back then, that I would grow to love both of these products together (focus on the TOGETHER please). What I discovered was that separately these masks don’t do much but together or more precisely one after the other they are superb.

The Mega Greens Galaxy Pack is a detoxifying deep cleansing mask that has a green tint and while drying it gives the skin a pulling and tightening sensation. If you have sensitive skin, then I would be careful with this one. After the D-Tox Mask, I go straight in with the Moisturizing Moon Mask, and when I say “in” I mean it. I indeed leave this mask on for as long as possible. The texture is sticky and is difficult to rinse off, so it’s better to use a cloth with this one. The skin feels afterward calm, smooth and well hydrated. (Each mask retails for 40$ for 3 fl oz)

Product-Nr.3 The Glossier Supplements

Next in line are the power serums! The Glossier Supplements are like superfoods for the skin. Each vile is targeting a specific need. Super Glow is a potent formula containing Vitamin C and Magnesium. Super Pure has Zinc and Niacinamide which comes to the rescue when your skin is congested and irritated. Finally, if your skin feels dry and lifeless don’t despair, Super Bounce will help your skin regain its plumpness since it is rich in Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5. I love this potent serum trio since it provides me the flexibility I need to pick and choose my skincare, based on my skins’ day to day needs. Having a mixed complexion, this is indeed a match made in heaven! The super pack will set you back for 65$ or 28$ for a single (0.5 fl oz / 15 ml each). Out of all the products from Glossier I’ve tried so far, I would most definitely repurchase those.

Product-Nr.4 Priming Moisturizer

I am not mad about this product but don’t love it either? On the one hand, the cream feels luxurious, and it sinks into the skin quickly without making me feel sticky. It doesn’t clog my pores, and it’s a good base for applying makeup. Although I enjoy using this product, it somehow didn’t knock my socks off! The hydration this moisturizer gave me wasn’t enough, and there are tons of other moisturizers out there that perform just as good and at a lower price (check The Ordinary). `I find it a pity that they don’t offer at least a version with SPF. (That would be so practical don’t you think?) It’s not bad if you are in your 20s, but for more mature skin or dryer skin it might be better to try the “rich” version instead. The moisturizer retails for 22$ (1.7 fl oz / 50 ml)

Product-Nr.5 Invisible Shield

This clear gel sunscreen with SPF 35 is perhaps my least favorite product out of the whole skincare line. This smart packaged Sunscreen is super lightweight, smells fantastic and sinks quickly into the skin. However, the antioxidant, yeast and sweet orange peel oil-infused formula didn’t agree with my complexion. My skin became very oily throughout the day after each use. Still great for the chest, neck, and body though! So if you are an oily even mixed complexion, I would recommend first to try a tester and see how your skin will react before buying. The Invisible Shield retails for 25$ (1 fl oz / 30 ml).

Product-Nr.6 Balm Dotcom Mint

This product I LOVE! It is perfect for the cold winter months, yet the refreshing mint makes it a refreshment for your lips in the summer. I use the balm each morning and night and thanks to the thicker consistency it hydrates and protects my lips from being chopped. I even like to use it as a base before going in with my liquid lipsticks to seal the hydration and make the formulas more comfortable to wear during the day. So if you own liquid lipsticks that are extra drying but you love the color then try this combination out before getting rid of them! All in all, I love my little Balm Dotcom Mint (30$ for 5 fl oz / 15ml), and I will repurchase for sure!

Here we are at the end of part 1 of my Glossier Skincare Review. Look out for my next blog post which I will dedicate to the Glossier Makeup line. Let me know if you would like me to put a video together as a dedicated full face to the Glossie skincare and makeup products! Also are there any products that you have tried or would like to try from this line? If you did which ones did you love and which ones didn’t work for you? Leave me a comment below!

Until next time

xoxo from Zurich,
